TORONTO- Canadian Athletes bagged 110 medals, including 45 gold medals at the end of the first week of the 2015 Toronto Pan American Games.

Canada beat US who stood second with 144 medals comprising 40 gold medals.

For 2015 Pan Am Games; Athletics Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee has nominated total of 90 athletes, including 44 women and 46 men.

Before the Pan Am Games Peter Erikson (Athletics Canada Chief Technical Officer and Head Coach) said in an interview that,“2015 Pan American Games are very important to us to build confidence and to shape our self for upcoming Rio Olympic and World Championships which is our foremost goal”.

Canada added seven more gold medals on Friday in Pool women’s 400 metre freestyle, Pool men’s 400 freestyle, women’s pursuit, women’s keirin, men’s Squash and a bronze in the men’s 500m rifle prone.

6,000 athletes from 41 nations and territories from the Americas have participated in the largest international multi-sport event ever held in Canada which will run till July 26.
