UGANDA- Five Uganda boxers Fazil Juma Kaggwa (light flyweight), Willy Kyakonye (heavyweight), Rogers Semitala (bantamweight), Hassan Abdul (lightweight), and Michael Sekabembe (super heavyweight) qualified for the most awaited Aiba World Championship to be held from October 8 to 18 in Doha, Qatar.

The fighters booked their berths after claiming bronze medals in their respective weight categories from the African Confederation Boxing Championship in Casablanca, Morocco on Sunday. It is considered to be a qualifying event for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Fred Kavuma, publicity secretary of the Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation said, “Uganda squad comprised of eight boxers who participated in Morocco championship, they are happy that five have made it for the World Championship.”

"Chances are very bright for several boxers, as the Gold medalists from the World Championship will qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics", added Fred.
