Former cricketer Adam Gilchrist appointed as Australia’s first education ambassador to India, on Thursday.

Australian Education Minister Christopher Pyne had made an announcement that on August 24, he will be attending the annual Ministerial Dialogue and the third Australia-India Education Council meeting in India.

It was reported Christopher Pyne’s announcement that, Mr. Adam Gilchrist will be the first Australia-India Education Ambassador. He will be playing an important part in supporting the growth in the strong bilateral education relationship between Australia and India and also would help to ensure that Australia continues to be seen as a high quality provider of education.

He also said that Indian people recognize Mr. Adam among the legends in cricket and the values he espouses both on and off the field. His excellence and integrity are precisely those with which Australia aligns its reputation for high-quality education training and research.

On which the former wicketkeeper and the batsman Adam Gilchrist replied that, he is very excited about his new role. He also said that he is honored to be chosen to perform this important role in helping strengthen education between our two countries. He also stated that “For the past seven years in my capacity as an ambassador at one of Australia’s best research universities, I have seen first-hand the vital role education plays in the development of modern India”.

Adam was also said that “I have spent so much of my cricket career playing in India; I have come to know the important bond Australia shares with India”. He also said that “Being the Australia’s first education ambassador to India, it provides me an opportunity to put so much back into the relationship through all important focus of learning and training”.
