World No.2 tennis ace Roger Federer is surprised by number of heat retirements from the ongoing US Open 2015.
14 retirements including Jack Sock and Denis Istomin who recently withdrew, shocked and surprised Federer.
The Swiss star believes that regardless of 33°C temperature the players should be fit enough to cope with the conditions.
Roger said in an interview; I know we often don’t play best-of-five-set matches, so it’s quite obvious that our body reacts funny once you exceed the two-and-a-half to three-and-a-half time period on the court. But I think everybody comes here to represent their country and one must be well prepared, there is no excuse.â€
“I think players should be so fit that the heat really should not matter at one point.â€- added Federer.
The Seventeen-time Grand Slam Champion beat Steve Darcis of Belgian to reach third round of US Open.
The five-time US Open Champion will now take on 29th seeded Philipp Kohschreiber of Germany at Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City.
