A good news for e-followers of Mahatma Gandhi as Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley launched the electronic version of Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi (CWMG) today.

Digitized version of CWMG could be covering the entire life of Gandhi from 1884 till his demise on January 30, 1948. Original series of CWMG was crafted by Prof. K. Swaminathan which took him 38 years (1956-1994) collecting a great wisdom and putting it into proper format. This book of Swaminathan was published under Information and Broadcasting Ministry in 1994, in Hindi version as well.

Speaking on the work of Father of Nation Jaitley said, “He was a lawyer by education and could write on medicine, economic affairs, issues related to independence movement, social issues, global relationships, religion: there may be hardly a subject on which he may not have spoken or written.”

To disseminate the wisdom of Gandhiji all over the world and to preserve the national heritage, the digitized version is instrumental. Gandhiji had his own perspective of looking things which can be made global through this launch. The role Gandhi played in making Britishers quit India will also be highlighted.

Electronic version could be made available in pdf format. Gandhi work of 100 volumes is contained in two DVDs, which the Ministry could be soon publishing it.

Event was organized at the Gandhi Peace Foundation in the presence of Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and newly appointed Secretary Sunil Arora.
