Students are suspected to have food poisoning after consuming the Mid-day meal by an NGO Akshay Patra in Lucknow today. This NGO serves three government schools in a village of Chinat in Lucknow and it was reported that at least 90 students fell sick after eating the Kadhi-rice served by the NGO as the Mid-day meal.

Students from all these schools started complaining about stomach ache and vomiting after the meal. Accordingly they were rushed to the RML Hospital and Juggaur PHC as well.

The food sample has been sent to the food safety department for the laboratory tests.

All the students have been aided freely, said the State Health Minister Ahmed Hasan who also reached the hospital to control the situation accompanied with Chief Medical Officer SNS Yadav.

Angry parents became violent on the NGO team and armed them sticks who were trying to enter the campus. They also blamed the school teachers for the incident.

Nearly 50 students have already been discharged after the treatment whereas the others are still under observation. Heavy police force has been alerted about the incident so that no violent action can be conducted in this regard.

According to a doctor from the RML Hospital says that at least 82 children were brought to the hospital for treatment.
