India Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a new civil air terminal at Chandigarh airport today, which will handle both international and domestic flights.

There is a joint venture between AAI and the governments of Haryana and Punjab.

Airport Authority of India (AAI) has 51% stake in the project while Haryana and Punjab has 24.5% equity each.

The project cost is 939-crore, which is being seen as a “harbinger” of regional development for the north side of the country and it will be maintained and operated by CHIAL (Chandigarh International Airport Ltd).
