Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Monday morning via social networking site Twitter congratulated World No. 1 women’s doubles pair Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis of Swiss on winning the US Open women’s doubles title.
Sania Mirza in her response to the tweet said, “Thank you Sir for your wishes.”

The Swiss-Indian duo Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza who were also victorious at Wimbledon this year beat fourth-seeded pair of Casey Dellacqua of Australia and Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan 6-3, 6-3 in the women’s double final at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on Sunday

Martina Hingis also won US Open mixed doubles title alongside Leander Paes.

The 34-year-old Hingis has now won a total of 14 Grand Slam doubles titles in her career

This is Sania’s second consecutive Grand Slam title of the season, and fifth overall.
