Five people killed, at least twelve injured and over millions of people evacuated after the powerful 8.3-magnitude earthquake that struck Chile on Wednesday night.

As per the reports; The US Geological Service reported the earthquake of 8.3-magnitude but the University of Chile's Geology Center raised it later to 8.4-magnitude.

In 2010, Chile faced an 8.8-magnitude earthquake which killed more than 500 people and destroyed more than 2,00,000 houses.

The intensity of the earthquake was so strong that the capital of Argentina Bruenos Aires, the Chile town of Illapel also jolted by three aftershocks, all above 6.0-magnitude.

Tsunami alert has been issued by the Chilean authorities, extending the alert to the west coast of South America, New Zealand, and Hawaii.

According to the Chile's reporting systems in the Pacific Ocean; “Waves up to 2.5 metres high were headed towards shore.”
