Mercedes-Benz India Private Limited

One of the best luxury automobile manufacturers, Mercedes-Benz India on Thursday announced that it has bagged a contract with Union Government to provide with 55 top of the class E250 luxury sedans on-lease. These top E250 will be initially used during the India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) held from October 26-29 in New Delhi.

The IAFS summit is organized to discuss on the partnership between Indian and African countries with various global issues, where Africa's 54 countries are going to be represented by their heads of state or government.

Officially, the luxury sedans will be deployed in the fleet of the ministry of external affairs for IAFS. After IAFS summit, the sedans are going to be used to ferry other visiting foreign dignitaries and top diplomats.

"Mercedes-Benz has always been the preferred luxury brand for 'Head of States' across the globe including India, and we are extremely proud of this fact. The impeccable sense of prestige, luxury, safety and comfort offered by a Mercedes-Benz is rarely matched and makes us the obvious choice for such exclusive clientele," said Roland Folger, managing director and chief executive, Mercedes-Benz India.

The Mercedes-Benz sedan is one largest selling car model, about more than 3,000 units sold in India to date. It is manufactured since 1995 in Pune. The mandate from Ministry of External Affairs to choose for the E-class sedan had proved the brand equity and inherent strength about the product that Mercedes-Benz has in Indian luxury car market.

The E250 CDI has priced at Rs. 5070 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). However during the deal with the ministry of external affairs, Mercedes-Benz will not reveal its bid prize.

The benefits that luxury sedan will provide to the department of foreign affairs are one of the most top E-class car model facilities. The Luxury sedan is powered by 4-cylinder diesel engine with a displacement of 2,143 cc and maximum torque of 500Nm ranging between 1,600-1,800 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 in a mere 7.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 242km per hour. Also, the springs and the dampers are well suited to take the abuse. Thus, luxury sedan will help to increase the image and reputation of Indian External Affairs Ministry during IAFS and even after it.
