Noida-based diversified conglomerate Dharampal Satyapal group’s (DS Group) confectionery division is expecting Pulse. Its newly launched mango-flavored hard-boiled candy (HBC) product, to garner Rs 100 crore in sales by March 2016, according to its vice-president (new product development) Shashank Surana.

The product named as “Kaccha aam”(unripe mango) flavored priced at rupee one has a tremendous demand in the two states i.e. Gujarat and Rajasthan and has already cracked sales of about Rs. 50 crore.

The 6,500-crore group's confectionery division, which operates under the 'Pass Pass' mother brand, recently has three products Pass-Pass, Chingles and Pulse. The confectionery division is expected to have Rs.220 crore turnovers during the current financial year.

Surana said that, "The hard-boiled candy market in India is currently estimated at Rs.1,800 crore and is the largest sub-segment of the NGNC (non gum, non chocolate) category. It is growing at 9 percent and therefore we saw a great opportunity in this segment.”

DS Group has two manufacturing plants in Rajasthan and Gujarat and one in Uttarakhand. In future, DS Group has planned to have two units in NCR.
