The Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son, also vice president of the Congress Party Rahul Gandhi along with other few party members received temporary relief from Delhi court on Tuesday. The court said that they would have to personally appear before the court on December 19 to face charges of financial irregularities, regarding the Herald case.

The Metropolitian Magistrate Lovleen also granted exemption for personal appearance on Tuesday.

The Delhi court issued orders against Congress leaders on 26 June last year after complaint filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in the National Herald newspaper case.

Swamy has filed complaint about ‘cheating’ in the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd. by Young India Ltd. where Sonia and Rahul Gandhi each owned 38 percent stake.
