It's too early for any definite information about Xperia Z6, but today Sony unveiled a new sensor for camera phones, which is expected to be shipped in May this year.

It's a 1 / 2.6" 22.5 MP sensor with a pixel size of 1μm(micrometers). It was released under the name IMX318 and although it has smaller pixels than predecessor model IMX230 (1 / 2.4", 1.12μm) manufacturer promises that the quality of photos will not be worse.

Interestingly it is the world's first sensor with built-in hybrid autofocus and 3-axis electronic stabilization. IMX318 allows 4k video at 30fps/ or Full HD on 120 fps.

Let's hope that by the release of Japanese top model, we will come to know something more exciting, we assume that the strategy of the Sony will be to get ahead of competition from Korea.
